As most of you all know Jessica and Jason had a visit with
the local LaGrange oncologist today to get some more information about this
thing we are going to beat. We have decided to be completely transparent on
this blog about what is going on, so that our whole team (including you guys)
can be armed and equipped to help tackle this foe. So here we go…
Apparently, this cancer knows how special Jessica is, because
it is a very unique cancer. Jessica’s latest PET Scan has shown cancer cells in
her right kidney, left arm, two left side
ribs, two vertebrae in her lower back (T11, L5), her sacrum, her left hip and her
right hip. Cancer is officially classified and named by where it originates
from. For Jessica because the cancer has presented itself in a lot of different
areas, the oncologist in LaGrange can’t yet pin point the origin. They do
believe that it originated in the Kidney, but because the biopsy has not provided
them with enough information to confirm that, they can’t yet officially
classify it as kidney cancer. Currently the doctors are calling it “metastatic poorly
differentiated carcinoma” I think this translates to “she has cancer in a lot
of places and we can’t figure out which one was first.” What the doctors here
did say was that it is a very aggressive, but slow growing cancer. Meaning that
in the week her doctors have been seeing her they have not seen any new cancer growth;
but it is in a lot of different places. Because they don’t know the origin, they
don’t want to officially declare what stage it is. They did say, they
believe it is an advanced stage three or stage four cancer.
With that said, Jessica and Jason talked more in depth with
the oncologist about their plans to go to MD Anderson. We have already scheduled
Jessica an appointment with an oncologist at MD Anderson for April 25th.
Her doctors here said that was the absolute best time frame. They said they have
already sent the biopsy sample to MD Anderson, and they should have already received it. This time frame gives MD Anderson the next week to analyze the
biopsy and pair Jessica with the best doctor for her cancer.
Our plan right now is to have a blast for the next week enjoying some Family time, and then on April 25th. IT’S GO TIME.
Thank you for your continued love and support. Thank you for
your gifts and prayers, and above all thank you for you friendship.
More info to come in the future, so stay plugged into this
blog! Also please use the comment section below to post encouragement for
Jessica. Do feel free to email encouragement to our family at
GetBetterJess@gmail.com. Texts and Emails are also great ways to encourage, but
please know Jessica may not be able to respond to them all.
I am confident we are entering this cancer tournament with
an All-star Team of doctors, prayer warriors, friends and family, and above all
with Christ as our coach. I know the victory is already ours!
Love In Christ,
Chad Crowe
I'm a friend of Chad's from Creekside...my family and I are praying for you, Jessica! Enjoy your time with your sweet family before "go time"! And please know that many of our Creekside family have you in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteJessica,
ReplyDeleteMy family and I are remembering how you were with us through many journeys with my father, Robert Milton Combs, Sr., until he went to "sing with the angels" at 102 1/2. He practiced for this between naps at Big Springs United Methodist Church as you led us with grace and competence. He looked forward to going to church more than any other time in his life and he was proud of "the prettiest preacher I ever had." Now our best wishes go with you and yours. If you need anything from Macon, Georgia, just let us know. Hugs, prayers and best wishes. Sandra Combs Lewis
How perfect is God's plan that the time between now and the 25th is just what the onocologists in Texas need to get ready to greet you with top-notch treatment! He will be glorified, come what may, as we all seek His face and follow the path He lays before us. We are blessed through you, sweet girl!

ReplyDeleteJessica-
ReplyDeleteI am a close friend of your mom and dad's and Sunday School teacher to your little brother and sister. I just wanted you to know that we are praying for you and love you like crazy. Just know that you are going to come out on top because God is on your side and nothing beats Him (Romans 8:31). Also know that even though this little c might seem scary right now, God is going to send His joy in the morning (Psalm 30:5). You are already bringing so much glory to Him through your strength and your faith- just look at the amount of people touched by your story! Show that cancer who's boss, brave girl!!

It was so good to see you out and about on this gorgeous spring day, enjoying time and celebrating life/a birthday with all your family. I could see the love and support which surrounds you. You looked beautiful! I pray you will enjoy many more days like today, only cancer-free! Tammy Kirkland
ReplyDeleteFeel the love being poured out from many, many people for you, dear Jessica! Lay back and know God's arms are holding you close and you will NOT fall over! We are all with you every step of the way! Remember the scriptures, and put them to the test - they will NOT fail you! And our love for you will never quit! Julia O'Neil
ReplyDeleteJessica & family, Kristen Cason is a dear friend of mine and shared your story & blog with me. I am a former youth director in a UMC (turned SAHM a few years ago with our 1st daughter's arrival) and I have lived in the Houston area my entire life. You are in good hands with the amazing people of MDA. I am praying for you, your husband, your girls and your extended family (blood & church!). The unknowns and the waiting are definitely times of faith building so I'll be praying for peace and comfort for you all.
ReplyDeleteDear Jessica, if our love could heal you it would already be done! Please let it sustain you. Call on us for ANYthing you need. Together we will kick little c! Our love and prayers never cease! Amanda and Josh
ReplyDeleteJessica, I am your Dad's first cousin and you probably don't remember me and that is ok it has been a long time since I have seen you. I look at the pictures that your Mom puts out on FB of the family and you have some beautiful little girls. I know in my heart that God has so much more for you to do for your girls so I am praying and believing that He is the Great Healer and you are in His loving hands therefore NOTHING can harm you. Enjoy and relax this next week with your family and then go to Texas and kick that little c to the curb. You have a lot of people praying for you. Love you all and the family will continue to be in our prayers.

Jessica, through a member of our church, we have learned about your fight against cancer. You are on our prayer list, and we will believe God for wisdom for your doctors and a supernatural touch from Him on your body. We know that our God does miracles, and we are praying for a miracle healing for you. Much love in Christ, Carol Little, Prayer Ministry, Getwell Road United Methodist Church, Southaven, MS.
ReplyDeleteJessica and Jason, you and your family are in my daily thoughts and prayers. For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.Isaiah 41:13
ReplyDeleteI am a friend of Kristin and Carter Robinson, Sharon Melton. They spiritually saw us through 2 surgeries for my son with a large, very rare pheochromocytoma. They did not expect Nick to live through the 2nd surgery but prayer to our Lord Jesus Christ proved them wrong. Jesus will see you through this journey I know. Nick's verse may be well known, but it is God's word and it helped us tremendously. I pray it gives you comfort and we are praying for you Jessica!!! "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Philippians 4:13. and Jeremiah 30:17 "For I will restore health unto thee and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord... May you be healed and back home soon, Sharon and Mark Melton
